DIDI

Update 25.09.24:

Today was the first time we were able to take delightful Didi out by herself ... she is now in a kennel alone and, because she is not in with her puppies any more, she can now go out and about.

Nicky said she was the most rewarding dog she has walked!

She said that Didi is 'bright and intelligent and wants to please so very much. She is very attentive, but she is super interested in pheasants and the like ... it appears she has had little introduction to the big wide world!

She will need time and training but what a fabulous dog and how lovely for someone to turn her life around!'

Original text & information:

B-e-a-utiful Didi arrived from council pound kennels with only hours to spare and has now safely delivered 7 puppies!

Yet another dog dumped within days of giving birth - this is heartbreaking and this gorgeous girl deserves so much better in the next phase of her life...

She had clear burns on the inside and outside of her ears when she arrived, which are almost certainly cigarette burns, and they are extremely painful for her.

She is a delightful, if initially confused girl, who is now sleeping much better after a clearly exhausting and traumatic time.

We have now been able to assess her further and have the following additional information for any interested parties:

Her pups are now nearly 8 weeks old believe it or not and she has 'had enough'. They are big and strong and are continuously trying to drink from her and she is really getting very sore and grumpy with them now.

We have now been able to cat test her and we can now say without hesitation that she isn't cat friendly so definitely no cats or small furries please. She also showed a lot of interest in a parrot too so we feel that ideally a pet free home is needed.

She was, understandably, anxious when we took her away from the puppies and on returning to the rescue we had to put her in a separate kennel. This is very far from ideal because the puppies know she is still around, and she is desperately wanting to look after the puppies still, but she is just too grumpy when in with them as they are hurting her.

PLEASE PLEASE consider helping this beautiful dog ... she is affectionate, loyal, quite strong on lead and has been good with all dogs she has met here - we only cannot let her free run with them as she is still wanting to protect her puppies.

Her needs - a calm home with no children under 12 yrs old as she is bouncy.

A garden for her to relax and chill in as she loves to be able to wander outside.

A home who understands that she will be unsure initially after weaning from the puppies.

FULL facility to separate for days / weeks if needed if another residential dog please.

THANK YOU
